Why DIMAT’s Communication Strategy is as Important as its Toolkit – F6S Innovation

Sara Canedo, 10th Decemeber 2025, F6S Innovation

This article argues that communication is a fundamental pillar of success for European projects like DiMAT, not a peripheral administrative task. The effectiveness of the project, which aims to develop open digital toolkits for materials manufacturing SMEs, is dependent on its visibility.

The core argument is that the technical work—the advanced digital solutions developed by the consortium—remains ineffective if the target audience (SMEs) does not know they exist. “If we don’t show that these things exist, they don’t really…” is the principle guiding the strategy.

The DiMAT communication strategy ensures that the digital toolkits achieve real-world impact by:

  • Leveraging Expert Content: Utilizing original opinion articles written by partners like NaturePlast, Hegla-Hanic, and DIN.

  • Strategic Amplification: Transforming this expert content into journalistic press releases (Articles 15-20 in the deliverable) and publishing them in targeted media (e.g., Robotics and Automation, Insight Media) [context from user input].

  • Ensuring Adoption: Bridging the gap between the technical innovation and its market reality, thereby guaranteeing that the DiMAT solutions are known and adopted by SMEs.

The article concludes by linking this effective strategy to a vision for the future, expressed by Sara Canedo from F6S: the hope for a DiMAT 2 to continue its positive role in society, particularly in helping SMEs achieve better solutions.
