New Expert Insights: Digital Tools for SMEs

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the materials sector often struggle with the high costs and complexity of advanced material design. The DiMAT Materials Designer (MD) toolkit, developed as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution, offers a game-changing approach, eliminating expensive software licenses and computing infrastructure requirements.

Developed under the DiMAT project, with CETMA as one of its partners, the MD toolkit provides SMEs with access to advanced material simulation capabilities through an easy-to-use web-based interface. This enables innovation by allowing users to:

• Calculate properties through virtual testing, reducing reliance on physical prototypes;
• Visualize and compare data, enhancing decision-making;
• Store and share data seamlessly for collaborative work;
• Leverage a multi-scale numerical approach to simulate real-world material behaviour.
