Driving Digital Transformation at the 5th Burgos Industria 4.0 Meeting
DiMAT joins forces with European partners to showcase innovation, sustainability, and collaboration at one of Spain’s leading industry events.
From February 12–13, 2025, the city of Burgos became a hub for innovation as the 5th Burgos Industria 4.0 Meeting took place at the Fórum Evolución Burgos. The event, organised by DIHBU, brought together technology centres, research institutions, and industrial leaders to explore the advances and opportunities of digital transformation in European manufacturing.
The DiMAT Project, co-funded by the Horizon Europe programme, proudly joined this edition alongside our sister initiatives PIONEER Project and METAFACTURING. Together, we shared our vision for a smarter, more connected, and sustainable European industry, one where advanced materials, digital twins, and artificial intelligence play a central role in driving innovation.
Day 1 – A Strong Start for Innovation and Collaboration
“Day 1 of the 5th Burgos Industria 4.0 Meeting: A great success!”
The first day of the event set the tone for two days filled with energy, inspiration, and collaboration. Our joint stand, shared by DiMAT, PIONEER, and METAFACTURING, became a lively meeting point for researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and technology enthusiasts eager to learn more about how our projects contribute to Europe’s digital and green transition.
Throughout the day, visitors discovered DiMAT’s mission: to accelerate the uptake of digital technologies across the materials industry through data-driven tools, advanced simulations, and cross-sector collaboration.
We were delighted to count on the active participation of our partners:
- Javier Gomez (ADVANCED MATERIAL SIMULATION SL – AMS)
- Harrison de la Rosa Ramírez (Universitat Politècnica de València – UPV)
- Jorge Domenech Pastor (AITEX)
- Ellie Shtereva, PMP and Sara Canedo (F6S)
- Daniel Gesto (AIMEN Centro Tecnológico, PIONEER Project)
The day concluded with a networking cocktail that gathered participants from across Europe, encouraging exchange between research and industry stakeholders.
Day 2 – Youth, Knowledge Sharing, and Future Talent
The second day of the event was dedicated to young innovation and collaboration. Many students from local colleges and universities visited our stand, showing great curiosity about how European R&D projects like DiMAT are transforming the industrial landscape.
It was truly inspiring to see their interest in digital manufacturing, AI-driven material design, and sustainable production, areas where DiMAT and its partners are actively contributing to shape the future workforce and skills of the European industry.
Later in the day, our colleagues Javier Gomez (AMS), Harrison de la Rosa Ramírez (UPV, DiMAT), and Daniel Gesto (AIMEN, PIONEER Project) delivered a joint presentation to an audience of around 50 participants. Their talks focused on the technological advancements, methodologies, and results achieved within each project, highlighting how shared knowledge across initiatives creates greater impact.
Insights from the Experts: DiMAT in the Spotlight
One of the highlights of the event was the video interview recorded by the organisers, featuring Jorge Domenech Pastor (AITEX) and Javier Gomez (ADVANCED MATERIAL SIMULATION SL).
In the interview, they share key insights about the DiMAT Project’s objectives, challenges, and expected impact on European industry — emphasising how digital innovation, material science, and cross-sector collaboration are paving the way for more efficient and sustainable production models.
Collaboration Makes It Possible
The success of DiMAT’s participation would not have been possible without the strong collaboration and commitment of our partners and supporters.
A special thank you goes to Ellie Shtereva, PMP and Sara Canedo from F6S, who ensured smooth coordination and visibility for all three projects throughout the event, from logistics and communications to social media and on-site engagement.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to DIHBU for hosting such a well-organised and dynamic event, and to all the visitors who stopped by our stand to connect, exchange ideas, and share their perspectives on Europe’s digital future.
Looking Ahead
The Burgos Industria 4.0 Meeting was not just an opportunity to present results, it was a reminder of the importance of collaboration between research, industry, and education in shaping Europe’s industrial transformation.
By bringing together innovative minds and fostering dialogue, events like this strengthen the ecosystem that drives projects like DiMAT forward.
We’re already looking ahead to future opportunities to share progress, exchange knowledge, and keep building a more sustainable, digitally empowered Europe.
Stay tuned for more updates from the DiMAT Project, and follow our journey as we continue advancing the frontiers of digital materials innovation.
